1972 yılında Türk–Amerikan Ortak Savunma Tesisleri’nde görev yapan Amerikalı Kevin Reichley, tam 52 yıl aradan sonra bir kez daha Sinop’a geldi. Kentte iki yıl önce oğlu Stephen ile kısa bir ziyaret gerçekleştiren Reichley, bu kez yıllara meydan okuyan dostluğunu paylaşan üç eski arkadaşıyla birlikte Sinop’un yolunu tuttu.
Reichley, şehre adım attığı anda duygularını gizleyemedi. Sinop’un kendisi için özel bir anlam taşıdığını belirten eski asker, “Sinop her zaman kalbimde özel bir yere sahip. Burada çok güzel yıllar geçirdim, unutamam” diyerek yıllar öncesine dair anılarını paylaştı.
Kentte iki hafta kalmayı planlayan grup, bu süre içinde hem şehrin tarihi ve doğal güzelliklerini keşfedecek hem de yıllar önce tanıdıkları dostlarıyla yeniden bir araya gelecek. Reichley ve arkadaşlarının özellikle eski çalışma alanlarını, sahil şeridini ve şehrin simge noktalarını ziyaret etmeyi planladıkları öğrenildi.

Former U.S. Serviceman Returns to Sinop After 52 Years
Kevin Reichley, an American who served at the Turkish–American Joint Defense Facilities in Sinop back in 1972, has returned to the city after 52 years. Reichley had visited Sinop two years ago with his son Stephen, and this time he chose to come back with three longtime friends to relive old memories and reconnect with people he once knew.
Speaking about his return, Reichley said he never forgot Sinop’s natural beauty or the warmth of its people. “Sinop will always hold a special place in my heart. I spent some wonderful years here, and those memories stayed with me,” he shared.
Reichley and his friends plan to stay in Sinop for two weeks. During their visit, they will tour the city’s historical and cultural landmarks and meet up with old acquaintances from their time in the region.
After more than half a century, Reichley’s return is expected to bring emotional moments both for him and for those in Sinop who still remember his time in the city.
